A Normal DayOur Kindergarten & Pre-Kindergarten class is for children 4 - 6 years old. We start our day gathering together on our carpet to do a classroom exercise to help our physical bodies get ready for each day. Afterwards, we have our daily circle time, where we learn about our days of the week, months of the year, weather of the day, and other concepts related to math, reading, and phonics. We have a snack time as part of our daily routine, then we work on our lesson for the day about the word of God from the Bible, followed by lessons in reading.
One of the most awaited times by our kids is the Center Time, wherein students are allowed to choose the play station they want to concentrate upon. Each center focuses on specific skill development. One center helps develop their engineering and constructive minds by using Legos, train track construction, connecting cubes, marble run, and more. Building vocabulary and enhancing math abilities is done through another game center. During Center Time, students take turns either to play at these centers or to have one-on-one reading time with the teacher. Students are all encouraged to engage in interactive learning activities like in Reading, Math, Language, Science, and Bible. Each subject is interrelated and is taught in a way so that Pre–K & Kindergarten students are able to grasp the concepts of the lessons. They also have special classes like P.E., Art, and Library Time where they can enhance their skills and talents in these fields. Kindergartners also have their Japanese class, which is offered daily, to learn how to read and write in Japanese at their age level. Added to this daily schedule are their physical education, art, library time, and music classes throughout the week. Students have seven hours a day in the kindergarten class and it is a full day but a truly fun day too. |
